We have been appointed to design a residential development in the historical area of Ancoats, Manchester.  The site which is located on Blossom Street is ideally located on the boundary of the traditional city centre and now the beginnings of a new city centre neighbourhood.  The site has strong importance and acts as a gateway in the public realm, especially with much development occurring in the surrounding area.

The scheme is located on a site which aims to satisfy both historic and modern conditions. Its primary aim is to relate and enhance the historic urban environment within the Ancoats Conservation Area.  The scheme will regenerate a partially vacant and under-utilised site that currently houses a derelict electricity substation and surface level car park.

The design will see 143 mixed apartments built over two blocks with commercial space at ground floor.  All apartments will have floor-to-floor glazing to allow uninterrupted natural light into all rooms and will adhere to the London Design Guide Space Standards.

The scheme follows several we are looking at in the area including the approved Great Ancoats Street scheme which is due to start on site in early 2017.
