We have been working on this site in various guises for over five years and ultimately, the scheme has come to fruition as an extra care residential scheme for Knowsley Housing Trust.
Work has now begun on site to create 56 apartments and 16 bungalows at the site of the former watch making factory in Prescot, Merseyside. The project involves conversion of the existing Grade II Listed building together with a new build extension. The new section of the development will connect to the Listed building through a lazed link which sensitively marks the line between old and new.
Outline planning has also been granted for a second phase of development which will create a further 62 new homes for outright sale.
The Grade II Listed watch making factory, originally the headquarters of the Lancashire Watch Company, was built in 1889 and closed in 1910. In World War II it was used as an army barracks and later housed a firm of printers before falling into disrepair.
