We have received planning approval from Trafford Council for a 363 unit PRS residential development named Cornbrook Works, located at the end of Chester Road on the Manchester and Trafford border.
Cornbrook Works will revitalise the 2.53 acre area, creating a new focal point at a key gateway into and out of Manchester City Centre and is conveniently opposite the Cornbrook Metrolink Interchange.
The development, a mix of two and three bedroom townhouses, one and two bedroom apartments and family-duplex apartments is arranged around a tree lined central, public avenue following the route of the original Corn Brook (now an underground culvert). There will be two high-rise blocks of 19 and 15 storeys fronting onto Chester Road and connected with the rest of the development through communal gardens, courtyards and residents’ amenities.
Tim Groom said: “Cornbrook has been a fantastic project for the Practice. It’s had some really challenging constraints but the team have worked hard to design something that provides great places to live, bringing greenery and landscaping to the development. We’ve created a huge range of opportunities for residents to meet and enjoy outdoor space as well as providing a good variety of homes that reactivate every street.
Back at the turn of the 20th century Cornbrook Works, a steel plant, was located at the centre of our site. We’ve drawn from this history in the materiality of the design with a simple and refined palette of brick and metals.”
